ROGER FEDERER and Rafael Nadal are continuing to cause a stir over who is the greatest player of all time.
Federer, 37, has won 20 Grand Slam titles and is hoping to add the US Open to that tally when it gets underway next week.
Meanwhile Nadal, four years his junior, is only three major tournament wins behind and currently sits top of the world rankings.
Tennis fans around the world constantly speculate as to who will leave the greatest legacy on the sport.
And football players are now joining in on the debate as Roma stars Justin Kluivert, son of famous Barcelona forward Patrick, and Kostas Manolas cannot agree on the topic.
“I was always interested in tennis, I started tennis, after I started playing soccer. I like tennis a lot,” Kluivert said.
“I think Rafa Nadal is very good. Who do you think is better?”
To which Manolas replied: “For me is Federer.”
But Kluivert could not be budged.
“Nadal, I think he is a masterclass,” he added.
Although both Federer and Nadal are considered the greatest players of all time, former world No 1 Novak Djokovic is the early favourite to win the US Open.
The Serbian won Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Masters over the last month and Federer thinks he has a chance to make it a hat-trick in New York.
“I’m not the favourite; they are. Rafa and Novak, in my opinion,” Federer said.
“I think it will be a very exciting end to the season, because everybody’s going to probably be healthy or healthier again.
“But I’m happy that my level, you know, is there. I just need to figure out my game, get used to different balls.
“That’s going to be just something I’m going to be working on.
“I just gotta come up with a lot of energy, and then hopefully I also have a chance after ten years to do something special again at the Open.”
